Ida Toninato is a saxophonist, composer, and producer whose work unfolds at the intersection of acoustic resonance and immersive electronics. Known for her singular ability to channel vulnerability and explosiveness, she crafts powerful sonic environments where deep listening and raw emotion collide.

Her two solo albums — recorded in vast reverberant spaces like an abandoned water reservoir — explore the saxophone as a revealer of acoustic beauty, mirrored with subtle electronics. Her VR project Listening to the Walls (co-produced with Studio Trebuchet, NUMIX finalist) invites audiences to co-create meaning through immersive sound.

In 2024, Toninato embraced electronic composition with Lions on the Run, a bold solo project presented at SAT’s dome series Substrat (to be released in 2026). As producer, composer, and performer, she weaves obsessive rhythms and haunting melodies into a sensuous, dreamlike soundscape.

Invested in long-term collaborations, she also co-creates two full-length A/V works with Pierre-Luc Lecours (Homeostasis, 2024 and Inner Seas, 2022),  and the chamber albums Dream of Heat and The Space Between Us with violist Jennifer Thiessen (JUNO and OPUS nominated). Her performances have taken her across Europe, the Americas, Asia and the UAE. A Doctorate holder in interpretation from Université de Montréal, she is currently developing a narrative and interactive VR experience about a whale singing differently from her tribe.
